What actually happens when you book
Everything below is a mechanism, not a promise. It is how the product is built, and you can check every line of it against what the app does. Including the money, which we show in full.
What you do today
A number on a wall
- You do not know who they are.
- You find out the price at the door.
- You pay for parts in cash and hope.
- If the work fails, you have a dead number.
Through Duam
- Every artisan verified before their first job.
- The price is agreed before anyone sets off.
- Parts are funded in the app, with a photo.
Who comes to your door
Anyone can call themselves a plumber. The only question that matters is whether somebody can find them again afterwards, so ours are checked before they are listed.
Every artisan is verified
Before their first job, and an artisan who fails is not listed. Look for the Verified by Duam badge.
Choose who comes
Anyone, a woman or a man. Pick one and we only send that person, and if nobody like that is near you yet, you see it before you pay.
Where your money sits
You pay Duam, not the artisan. We hold it until the job is finished and you hand over a 6-digit code. The code releases the money.
- 01
You pay
The money leaves your account and stops at Duam. The artisan can see it is there.
- 02
They work
Knowing it is funded is why they set off immediately rather than asking for something up front.
- 03
You release
Four digits, handed over only when the work is done. No code, no payout.
This protects both sides, which is why artisans accept it. You cannot be left having paid for a job nobody did. They cannot be left having done a job nobody pays for.
Parts work the same way. An artisan never takes cash from you at the door. They ask through the app, you fund it, they photograph the part or the receipt, and only you can release it. If they never buy it, the money comes back to you.
What it costs, in full
The artisan sets their own price and you see it before you book. Duam earns in two places and nowhere else: a percentage of the call-out fee, and a percentage of the labour. Nothing on materials, no monthly fee, nothing to be listed.
- On the call-outDuam keeps a percentage
The rest goes to the artisan for stopping what they were doing and travelling to you.
- On the workDuam keeps a percentage
Of the labour only. The artisan keeps the rest.
- On materialsDuam keeps nothing
Parts are funded by you and go to whoever bought them.
- To be listedDuam keeps nothing
No monthly fee, no joining fee, no charge to appear.
The call-out fee is charged whether the job goes ahead or not, because it pays for an artisan who stopped what they were doing and travelled to you. Everything is shown before you confirm, and if a job needs more work than expected the artisan has to ask and you have to agree, in writing, in the job thread.
If it goes wrong
You can report a problem for 48 hours after a job closes, and a person decides it, not a form. The artisan gives their side in the job chat, the decision shows on the booking, and if we agree with you we refund you to your Duam balance. The full terms set out exactly what is covered and what is not.
The other side of it
None of this works unless it is worth an artisan's time. So they set their own price, choose which jobs to take, keep working for anyone else they like, and their money lands in their Duam wallet when the job is done. They are independent contractors, not employees, and that is in writing before their first job.

Duam works anywhere in Nigeria. Where no artisan is near you yet, the app says so before you pay, rather than taking a booking we cannot fill.
